You are supose to change the belts every 10,000 miles. They use Kevlar belts now. I own two 900 2V air cooled heads duc , a 900 Elefant (50,000 miles) and a 2000 Monster. Very low maintaince reliable bikes. The Guzzi push rod motor is a lower revi...
I rode a 990 adventure at the Houston Int bike show two months ago. very comfy and smooth , way more so than the Elefant. my Elefant has the ducati high compression pistons mod. and a little carbon fiber slip on. with the 42 rear sprocket, it is real nice with easy throttle wheelies in first and a little one in second, no clutch needed. pretty good for a 1994 model. I ride it all the time .. a super all purpose bike. I also rode one of the KTM 960 super enduro bikes. it was about 5 feet off the ground. no body wanted to ride it.. I couldn't get on ontil the last miniute before our group left, very nice with a full motorcross supension. I did 95mph on the street on a bike with knobies, a real blast. I may get a KTM one day. I have 5 bikes now and I don't want to come home one night and see a bunch of friends on my couch doing an intervention. Is your bike a 1971 eldorado?
I'm actually new to them too. Cool bikes though. In the middle of a full up restoration of this one. You own one of the bikes i've always lusted after...the 900 Elefant. Owned a 650 Elefant, it was ok, but not what I was looking for. My KTM 990 Adventure is perfect though.
